CLASS 5: THE TEMPLES OF THE GREEK AND ROMAN PERIODS

The best-preserved temples in Egypt, Dendera, Edfu, and Philae, date to the final centuries of ancient Egyptian religion. While they continued to perform traditional rituals, priests developed innovative offering rituals during this time. They also knew that sacred knowledge could be lost, and so texts were increasingly inscribed on temple walls rather than confined to scrolls in temple libraries.
