ANCIENT EGYPTIAN LIVES, CLASS 4
The capital city of Akhenaten and Nefertiti is one of the best-preserved urban landscapes of ancient Egypt. Decorated tombs show daily life in the city, while archaeology has uncovered the residents’ houses and the objects that filled them. This class will focus on men such as Mahu, the chief of police at Akhet-Aten, who coordinated patrols of the city and its surrounding desert environments. Other people you will meet in this class include the high priest of Aten and the chief sculptor Djehutymose (the artist who created the famous bust of Nefertiti).
